Weaknesses As mentioned above, a destroyed rod rendered the mower worthless. Cost of engine repair was higher than the mower was worth after 5 years. Cut quality was poor from day one.

Overall This was my second Craftsman riding mower and will be my last. This mower was never used beyond its capabilities, garage kept, and maintained like it was supposed to be. I didn't like the mower from the first time I used it. Transmission was tolerable. Very poor cut quality. Mowing deck collected grass buildup like nobody's business. Horrible investment.

Strengths Tractor has a large feel - much bigger and heavier than a 42 inch. Mows a good sized path.

Weaknesses After just 3 summers of mowing we began to have bend push rods (internal engine parts) on the 22HP Briggs & Stratton engine . . . and 6 months later the problem has not been resolved despite several attempts by a very good mechanic - rendering the mower useless.

Overall It wouldn't matter if I liked the mower or not, as it has engine problems and has been unuseable for the past 6 months - we have had to get a second mower to replace it. I don't know if everyone has the same problem, but I think that an engine should last more than 3 years ( mower had a 2 year warranty).
