I like your mounting system, looks good.  I can't find the hood rack you have, I have looking for one since I bought the 500, but no luck.  Can you give me the link?  I am on the greene mountain site, searched for hood rack, but don't see it.

You have a nice set up.  Do you have a stereo  in there someplace?  That has been a challenge to figure out too, a marine unit I guess, but not sure where to mount it or the speakers.

Do you have a method to cover the space between the bottom of the windshield and the hood?  I am going to get a tarp or canvas and cut it to size and fasten it, if I can make it look good.

    Mike,

I haven't yet seen a hood rack for the 500.  To be honest with you, it doesn't get used much.

I do have a stereo.  It's mounted into a ceiling panel I made.  I have 2 speakers mounted in the roof panel and 2 more mounted to the ROPS, again, using those O-clamps.

For the gap between the windshield and hood, I used a piece of rubber from a truck bed mat.  It's rigid enough that you only need to secure to the 2 ends but flexible enough to cut/contour using a utility knife.  It also bends/flexes out of the way when you go to open the hood.  For mounting, I just put a small (probably 1/4") hole near each end and zip-tied it to the ROPS below the windshield.

For the stereo, ceiling panel or other accessory information, start with the link below.  This is where members listed options and accessories added.  If you find something you're interested in, do a search for it and you'll get a list of threads on the subject.  If you need more info, post a new thread (or bump an old, related one) and we'll give you a hand from there.

Well we got it all mounted up today. We used some 4" angle and bolted that to the from plate by the receiver hitch, leaving a hole for the hitch.i plam to mount one of those tow hooks that go into the hitch. We then used 2" tubing to get out about 6" for hood clearance. That extends to the "K" on the hood emblem. We toook off each side and wrapped the 1" tubing around to each side stopping just outside the from tires. The welds are all ground down and I will get it painted up .The wich is tucked back up in there and protected by the brushguard.Just need to do alittle painting and wire the winch up and I am all set.Gonna take care of the windshield very shortly too.

I was glad too see the Saints win but I was kinda pulling for the Falcons too.Todd McClure( #62 starting center for the Falcons) grew up in the same neighborhood and went to school together.Looks like the Saints could go all the way this year.

    Re: RTV 500 windshield

Just got my ss rubber coated loop clamps from Mcmaster-carr.  They worked great for windshield, but not in the exact holes I had already drilled.  So now I have a few extra holes in the windshield, oh well.

I will also use them to put a couple of bars across the back roll cage to hold a headrest, and keep things piled high in the bed from visiting me in the front seat.

I also have a top for my 500 of lexan, but I with all those clamps up there, some for the windshield, some for the top, I've created a mess at the moment.  Probably better to get a cloth top and back combo.

If you dont mind me asking, what did you use for the windshield? I have got the clamps but curious how the plexiglass or Lexan forms to the ROPS.The curvature of the cage has me wondering if it will bend to form without breaking.Home Depot has a sheet 48"x48" of .222" plexiglass for $55.00 ....May look at going that route and the same for the back glass.

I used 1/8" Lexan, it bends perfectly to the bend if the ROPS.  Lexan has a lot of bend to it.  I think the drawback is that you have to leave 6 or 8" at the bottom to open the hood, trying to fill that has been my problem.  I'm thinking of a clear carpet protector runner type thing, I want to be able to see through it.

    Re: RTV 500 windshield

Lexan is about the only way to go, many " other " acrylics will bust and break !!!!  True GE Lexan cost more, BUT, better than doing all that work and then at the end, everything goes south !!!

A local made him a back window out of that thin plexi-glass. Drill holes, fit perfect, happy as could be. Next day, the plexi busted >>>>  he said he don't have a clue what made it happen.  Then he went ahead and ordered slider from Essex company. This was on a 900 series RTV >>>>

if you have to drill holes in your windshield to mount it drill the hole twice as big as the bolt going through it and use a rubber washer and remember to just snug the bolt up  so the window can flex and move with the rtv if not it will crack . my buddy made him one out of plexi and snugged them bolts up good and tight . the first bump he hit the frame flexed the the window fell apart and i mean fell apart.

If you can't dazzle them with perfection! Then puzzle them with bullshit!!
